Launched in 2011, Rina Singh is the designer behind Eka, a label that works with indigenous Indian textiles and craftspeople in rural western and eastern India to create products that each tell an interesting story. In 1998, Rina received the Chairman's Scholarship to study fashion in the UK and then went on to win the Elle India Graduates Award in 2015. The Baby Eka line showcases a beautiful spectrum of pastel colors presented on breathable fabrics that make the style child-friendly. The label's silhouettes are fluid and unrestricted with volume that allows the natural characteristics of the fabric speak for itself. Eka supports the 'Make in India' initiative by using and promoting sustainable fabrics such as hand-loom cottons, khadis and linen that are completely sourced and handwoven in India. The label also uses organic indigo dyes and traditional hand-block prints like ‘Saudagiri’ and ‘Agrakh’ to accentuate collections. Rina was recently nominated to represent India for the prestigious Woolmark Prize 2016.
