Conceptualized in 2009 by Chinar Farooqui, Injiri is a décor brand that uses traditional Indian fabrics and textiles to create aesthetically beautiful products. The brand name translates to mean ‘Madras checkered textiles’ that were exported from South India to West Africa in the 18th century.
Chinar studied fine arts from the acclaimed M.S. University, Vadodara and received a master’s degree in textile design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. Her passion for traditional materials and the stories behind their production is what inspired her to launch her label Injiri. She works out of her studio in Jaipur, Rajasthan and spends her time at museum’s to fortify her understating of folk culture and their simplicity. Skilled artisans use the Indian hand-loom to hand make products which allows transparency in the fabric structure for each Injiri product. Within their line you will find for your home, cushion covers, tea towels, napkins and bags.
